The principle

Morpheus8 by the manufacturer InMode combines two established procedures: fine microneedling and fractional radiofrequency. The energy is delivered through microneedles at a pre-set depth, where it creates a controlled stimulus to which the skin responds with new collagen formation and remodelling of the connective tissue. This process runs over weeks to months – the result develops gradually and varies from person to person.

The treatment is carried out in line with the requirements of the German Ordinance on Protection against Non-Ionising Radiation (NiSV).

How it works

Before the treatment, an anaesthetic cream is applied and the skin is cleansed and disinfected. The treatment itself takes 60 to 90 minutes depending on the area. Afterwards the skin is red and slightly swollen for one to three days; small crusts may appear. Cooling, soothing skincare and consistent sun protection support healing.

Limits and risks

Morpheus8 is not a substitute for a surgical lift. Possible side effects are redness, swelling and small crusts. The treatment is not suitable for people with a pacemaker or metal implants in the treatment area, or during pregnancy, among other contraindications. How many sessions are usual?

Usually one to three sessions at intervals of four to six weeks. The appropriate number depends on the findings and is agreed during the consultation.

Connective tissue remodelling takes time: changes usually become apparent over several weeks to months. No particular result can be promised.

Is the treatment painful?

An anaesthetic cream is applied before the treatment. Most people therefore find the treatment easy to tolerate.

How much downtime should I plan for?

Usually one to three days with redness and slight swelling – considerably less than after fractional CO2 laser treatment, for example.

Does Morpheus8 help with a double chin and the jawline?

Yes – it is one of the most common indications. The radiofrequency heat in the deeper layers reduces the fat pad under the chin and tightens lax skin along the jawline; as a rule three sessions four to six weeks apart are needed.
